DARK SHADOW yacht is a 99.88 ft long sailboat monohull and spends the summer in South Pacific, French Polynesia and winter season in Caribbean Virgin Islands, Caribbean Leewards, Caribbean Windwards. It was built by Wally Yachts in 2002. A refit was done in 2012. The yacht layout features 3 cabins and accommodates 6 guests. The cabin arrangement is following: 1 double cabin, 2 twin cabins.

The sailboat features Caterpillar 3126TA , 350hp generators- Onan 22.5kw 380v engines .

Accommodation

David was practically born and raised on sailing yachts since the age of four and had logged over 200´000 nautical miles before deciding to join the industry as a professional. He has been captain on many well-known sailing yachts since he was 23 and has a vast knowledge of sailing and cruising destinations throughout the Mediterranean, Caribbean, United Kingdom and the East coast of the US and Canada.

Job description
David is responsible for navigation, safety, the overall running and financial management of the vessel, crew and guests. He ensures the safe and efficient operation of the yacht at all times, including compliance with all safety procedures and regulations. He takes care of adhering to flag regulations, port state and local laws and regulations, and manages the crew to ensure adherence to, and a full understanding of, the vessel’s policies. He provides daily leadership for the crew and encourages teamwork, individual growth and personal attention by delegating duties and supervising all crew tasks.

Sail and work experience
Michael has only been working in the yachting industry for since 2015 but he’s been very busy. Beginning aboard S/Y BARONG C as a mate he worked preparing the yacht for the summer season, sailing lots of mile in the process. He soon graduated to bosun aboard M/Y IRIMARI, where he was involved in the training of his successors. He then spent some time aboard S/Y PERSEUS 3 before being recruited as the lead deckhand aboard S/Y BLACK PEARL. After 2 years aboard he has moved over to DARK SHADOW well equipped with the skills and enthusiasm for the job. He speaks English and Maltese

Job description
As first mate on board Dark Shadow Michael has to perform a variety of different roles. One minute he is flaking the sail and the next he is mixing up a round of cocktails for the guests, you may find him cleaning a cab-in or preparing to drop the anchor down.

Maddy Dampney

Sail and work experience
Maddy has a wealth of experience both on land and at sea. After finishing her degree and working in a number of bars and restaurants she set sail aboard M/Y SMILES in 2015 as a chef and stewardess. Since then she has been working on yachts completing charters and private cruises. Maddy has filled almost every role aboard these yachts and has even completed a transatlantic crossing. Having been on land since 2017 she is more than ready for a new challenge aboard DARK SHADOW.

Job description
Maddy is in charge of the galley and interior. She is responsible for guest and crew meals, assuring a rich variety of food as well as making sure their living environment is clean and welcoming. She estimates food needs, reviews inventory assuring adequate supplies are available whilst adhering to budget and guests’ expectations. She carries out food ser-vice activities in order to have meals prepared at preferred times and makes sure to comply with health regulations. Thanks to her creativity, she develops new recipes and ways of serving food in order to satisfy different guests’ wishes. She also ensures that the food is relevant to the country being visited so that local cuisine can be enjoyed.

Benjamin Duncan

Sail and work experience
Benjamin has been working in the yachting industry for 5 years now. He began doing maintenance work in the shipyards but has since developed his skills and worked on a number of large yachts all over the Mediterranean. His most recent position was as a deckhand aboard M/Y ETOILE D’AZUR where he performed a wide range of roles, both in looking after guests and crucial yacht maintenance. He now finds himself aboard DARK SHADOW as an experienced and enthusiastic engineer.

Job description
Benjamin is primarily responsible for maintenance and fault finding of all machinery and systems onboard. He also plays a critical part in the sail-ing and navigation of Dark Shadow. Given the size and nature of the yacht it is not out of the ordinary for him to be taking part in supporting his crew mates in their daily tasks.
