Crew Information

Captain: Andy Kinnaird

Captain: Andy Kinnaird
Nationality: British
Languages: English
An experienced and accomplished sailor with a healthy appetite for fun and adventure, Andy was first introduced to sailing on the River Clyde in Scotland at a young age and then started his professional sailing career on the Bow of a Volvo 60. Andy has been sailing commercially and competitively for over 20 years, skippering yachts in various races including multiple Rolex Fastnet campaigns. He has spent time cruising the North Atlantic and skippering a privately owned yacht around the Caribbean and North America. In 2010 Andy became an RYA Yachtmaster & Sea Survival Instructor and is thrilled to share his passion for sailing and safety at sea with some 200 students so far. Having enjoyed sailing around the Adriatic for a few years, he is excited to spend more time in this beautiful location with Yacht Songbird, exploring new areas and introducing his favourite places to Songbird’s guests.
When he’s not sailing, Andy can be found studying traditional forms of navigation, flying, horse riding and spending time with his children.

Chef: Sarah Weare
Nationality: British
Languages: English (a little Spanish)
From an early age, Sarah has been passionate about food and entertaining; organising food-discovery dinner parties with friends, running the kitchen at her family’s pub and catering for local events and businesses. Although she decided to follow a career in luxury brand marketing, ultimately the call for food, travel and adventures at sea became too strong and in 2016 she decided to refocus to follow her passions. Sarah now travels extensively, always seeking out the local food culture, and cooks wherever possible at private villas, yoga retreats and of course at sea. Sarah is also passionate about fitness, nutrition and wellbeing, and she gained her yoga teacher training certificate in NYC in 2016. The food she makes reflects this as she enjoys preparing healthy, seasonal, well balanced and delicious meals with a flair for Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. Photography, music and travel writing are amongst Sarah’s other passions and creating fun experiences is never far from her mind. When she’s not sailing or cooking she’ll be happy to take a morning yoga stretch session or go exploring by SUP.

Engineer/Deckhand: Rafael Antón Monzó
Nationality: Spanish
Languages: Spanish, Italian
An adventurer and traveler at heart, Rafa started his working career as a mechanical engineer on dry land but subsequently fell in love with sailing whilst on a diving trip to the Maldives which naturally led him to transfer his skills and experience to the marine world. When the 32nd America’s Cup came to his home city of Valencia, Spain, Rafa was in the perfect place to be able to utilise his love for sailing and adaptable skills as an engineer to full effect by working on this world-class sailing event. Furthering his passion for water Rafa is also a Divemaster (SSI), he is always learning about new technologies & electronics, including drone flying, and one day he hopes to learn to fly an aircraft.
