Crew Information

Captain: Jacques Broodryk

Jacques Broodryk - Captain

Languages Spoken: English and Afrikaans

Jacques hails from a coastal town just outside of Cape Town in South Africa, right in the heart of the wine region. As a child, he spent his days at the beach surfing, diving, fishing, or boating with his father. He’s loved boating from a young age, and after working for two years as a forensic accountant in London, England, he left city life behind and returned to his roots. In 2002, he started working on large sailing yachts and then transitioned into motor yachts, working on charters in the Mediterranean for five years. His career took him to Madagascar, where he managed a charter company, and to an expedition yacht, where he traveled and completed a circumnavigation before he settled into working on ODIN in the Western Atlantic to be close to his wife and children. Jacques spends his leisure time surfing, diving, fishing, and spending time with his family on camping trips, bike rides, and even tea parties with the kids. Of all the places he’s seen around the world, Indonesia is his favorite with its legendary surf.
